Don't Quit

The Don't Quit presentation is based on a famous poem which was written many years ago. The author of this poem is unknown. Sadly, in recent years a number of people have claimed ownership of the poem and some have even claimed to have written it themselves!

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if he'd stuck it out.
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are –
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit –
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit

What you do to others ..... will be done to you?

Once upon a time in China, a girl named Li Li got married & went to live with her husband & mother-in law. In a very short time, Li Li found that she couldn't get along with her mother-in law at all. Their personalities are very different & Li Li was angered by many of her mother-in law's habits. In addition, she criticized Li Li constantly.

Days passed & weeks passed. Li Li & her mother-in law never stopped arguing & fighting. But what made the situation even worse was that, according to ancient Chinese tradition, Li Li had to bow to her mother-in law & obey her every wish. All the anger & unhappiness in the house was causing Li Li's poor husband great distress.

Finally, Li Li could not stand her mother-in law's bad temper & dictatorship any longer and she decided to do something about it. Li Li went to see her father's good friend Mr.Huang, who sold herbs. She told him the situation & asked if he could give her some poison so that she could solve the problem once & for all. Therefore, I had given you a number of herbs that will slowly build up poison in her body. Every other day prepare some delicious meals & put a little of these herbs in her serving. Now, in order to make sure that nobody suspect you when she dies, you must be very careful & act every second friendly towards to her, "Don't argue with her, obey her every wish and treat her like a queen." Li Li was so happy. She thanked Mr.Huang & hurried to home to start her plot of murdering her mother-in law. She remembered what Mr. Huang had said about avoiding suspicion, so she controlled her temper, obeyed her mother-in law and treated her like her own mother.

After six months had passed, the whole household had changed. Li Li had practiced controlling her temper so much that she found that she almost never got mad or upset. She hadn't any argument with her mother-in law in six months because she now seemed much kinder and easier to get along with. Her mother-in law's attitude towards Li Li had changed & she began to love Li Li like her own daughter. She kept telling friends & relatives that Li Li was the best daughter-in law. Li Li's husband was very happy.

One day, Li Li came to see Mr.Huang & asked for his help once again. She said, "Dear Mr.Huang, please help me to keep off the poison from killing my mother-in law. She's changed into such a nice woman and I love her. I do not want to die because of the poison I gave her. Mr. Huang smiled & hobbed his head. Li Li there's nothing to worry about. I never gave you any poison. The herbs I gave you were vitamins to improve her health. The only poison was in your mind & attitude towards her. But that has been all washed away by the love which you gave to her.

Have you realized that?

How you treat others is exactly how they will treat you?

There is a Chinese saying, "The person who loves others will also be loved in return."

So love all & loved by all
